WebLink is a multi-network solution for Wildfires
Most Firefighters around the world including Indigenous groups use VHF/UHF Walkie Talkie radios.
However, there is a major communication problem when Wildfire Firefighters travel to another territory to assist the local teams battle a major wildfire. The visiting Radio frequencies are incompatible with local frequencies. The solution is to select 4G/LTE/Iridium GO Networks when away from home base.
In the U.S. the Bureau of Land Management is committed to improving its wildfire response capabilities and continues to invest in advanced technology to better protect the nation’s public lands. A $2.76 million investment contributes to a larger plan to upgrade and modernize communication infrastructure for wildfire response across all agency jurisdictions. A $10 million total commitment will address radio interoperability issues that have plagued wildland fire suppression communications as technological advances have outpaced the efforts of wildland fire programs.
