Military and government agencies sought out Datalink Systems for bespoke development that suited their specific needs. One of datalink’s first clients was the U.K. Ministry of Defense, Military MI-6 branch. MI-6 continues to this day to contract Datalink for their unique needs.
Beyond its collaboration with MI-6, Datalink Systems also extended its expertise to international missions under challenging circumstances.
One notable instance involved the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, which sought the company’s assistance after a harrowing attack by the Taliban. In response to this urgent security need, the Embassy, through Kenwood America, approached Datalink to modify their P25 radios. These modifications enabled GPS tracking, ensuring the safety and well-being of Embassy staff in a highly volatile environment. This example underscores Datalink Systems’ ability to deliver customized, mission-critical solutions for clients operating under extraordinary conditions.
When Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared from radar on 8 March 2014 an international search commenced. The Royal New Zealand Air Force P-3 Orion Long Range Patrol Aircraft is equipped with datalink-designed hardware and software, which are connected via the Iridium Satellite Network.
Today, Datalink Systems DataGate is still the only multi-network mixed 3rd party GPS tracking platform in existence.
